About Us

Who we are

The Botswana Surgical Society brings together surgeons and the wider surgical team to advance the standard and reach of surgical care in Botswana. We believe access to safe, timely and affordable surgery is a right, not a privilege.

How we work

In partnership with the Ministry of Health and District Health Management Teams, we run multidisciplinary outreaches, share knowledge and strengthen the surgical workforce.

Flagship project

Paediatric operating theatre — Princess Marina Hospital

A purpose-built paediatric theatre funded by KidsOR and locally championed by our paediatric surgeon, equipped for children’s needs in a child-friendly environment. The project eases pressure on Marina’s theatres and improves outcomes for the country’s youngest patients.
